ty could make a gift of this kind and
never miss it. The institution is theirs,
and each should take an interest in it.
We want an Individual Interest, but

and a pull altogegther, wOuld make ev
ery worthy institution and organization

worthy of Kershaw County. The horn

A Marriage of Interest.
The following marriago announcement
appearing in the State last Sunday will
be rend with interest here. Mr. Lindsay
formerly resided in Camden where he
was connected wit-h the Southern Cotton

Chester, Sept. 27. ? A marriage of un
usual interest was solemnized Wednes
day aftefnoon ut 4 o'clock when Miss
Charlotte Brabham of ?Sumter became
the bride of William 1>. Lindsay of this
city. The ceremony was performed by'
| the Rev. John Edwin Purcell, Jr., pastor
of Purity Presbyterian church, at the
manse. The yoUtig couple left ut once
for a motor trip to North Carolina after
which they will make their home in
Chester where Mr. Lindsay is a promi

Mrs. Lindsay hus been in training at
the Pryor training school for nurses.
She is an active young woman and has
made scores of friends since coming to
Chester who are delighted to know she
will make her home here.
A MARRIAGE
OF INTEREST
Friends in Camden "were somewhat
surprised to hear of the marriage of
Miss Jane Bauskett. now of Washing
ton and Mr. Wan. D. Trantham, who
enl'islted for service in the World War
from. -t.his, his native town. Mr. Trant
ham has just returned from overseas, go
ing by Washington where the marriage
was solemnized Wednesday morning, the
young couple going inwnediatel.v to Camp
Gordon where Mr. Trantham Aill re
ceive his discharge. Lovely in person,
and charming in manner, the bride, as
Miss Jane Bauskett was among Cam
den's* most popular young women before
leaving with her pareirt-s a .few years ago
to make tlieir home in Washington. "Mr.
Trantham is one of our most excellent
and worthy young men and a wide circle
of friends are hoping that the charms

of their old home town may prove lr
resisfcable and that they will decide to
reside here in the future. x They are
expected to visit in Camden next week
as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. D.
Barrett.

boro, mid Mr. H. Herbert Young, of
Westville, were married at the ho?ne of
the bride Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Castles
last Wednesday evening. It was a pretty
home wedding the country home being
beautifully decorated for the occasion.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev.
Oliver Johnson. The bride'-s only attend
ant was her sister, Miss Jan-ie Castles,
while Andrew Young, brother of the
groom, was be?t man.
The large nunvber of be.autiful presents
testified to the love and esteem in which
Mr. and Mrs. Young were held. The
bride is one of Fairfield's most attractive
young women, and has a host of triends
throughout tlie St^te, while the groem
is a young man of pleasing personality
and one of the most popular business
men of his community.

"Mr. and Mrs. Green Medlin came to
their death by being burned and in a

The charred bodies of these aged peo
ple were fouud in the ruins of their
humble home near Oolumbia, Wednesday
morning, Septen&er 17. F. A. Crout,

Mrs W. J. Holden, of Sumter who
was in Union visiting hor parents, Mr.

bruised. The infant was held aloft by
the mother anjl escaped injury ? the moth
er taking the blow herself. The auto

Goshen Hill who was arrested earlier in

Sheriff T. H. Ilurch of Florence county
and deputy and jailer J. 8. Cain, were
jointly tined $50 with costs by Judge
II. A. M. Smith of the federal court

to a federal prisoner, C B. Sweatt, in
