Washington has ortlered work stopped
on the new raiitonment now under con
struction at Columbia. Two thousand
five hundred workmen were employed,
among them 1,800 Porto Rieans. who
will be sent back home as soon us a
transport ?'an be furnished. Mnny of
the men will be kept there to stack

depreciate on account of weather con
ditions.
