investigation ; the said Clerk and
Treasurer shall notify the persons,

notice; and also such witnesses as
the Mayor may desire to examine. The
witnesses called as aforesaid shall be
examined by the Mayor, under oath

everything which may evince the
amount of license tax for which such
parly shall be liable.
From the information thus acquir

the amount of license tax due by such
parly, whether lie, she or it attended
