morning captured an automohiie and
driver between l.oxlngton ami the
town of Edmund together with ahout
thirteen suit cases filled with liquor.
The men to whom the liquor belong
ed made their escape. The whiskey
\vas being smuggled into this state from
JackKonville in a novel way. On the
Seaboard railway near Swansea there
's a heavy grade and trains passing
there go so slow I hat a passenger
can easily step on or off the train.
These men had been to Jacksonville
and had their suitcases filled. At
I lie grade I hey would drop them from
the car to parties who would gather
them up and place them in a waiting
automobile. If was this automobile
that was making a roundabout trip
to Columbia thai Sheriff Miller chased.

Sunday afternoon, September 10, when
Miss Minnie Kohinson, the accomplish
ed daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
Kohinson, became the hride of' Mr.

killed. He was attempting to cross
the track in Ids car in front of the
train when struck.
Oorley brothers' sawmill in Leilng-,
ton county was destroyed by fire last

year the sawmill has been rlestroyed

Colonel Roosevelt went "up in the
air" Friday at Mineola, L. I., ia a hi
plane. The colonel and hip pilot were
in the air an hour and reached an
altitude of 5.000 feet.
