Mrs. E. E. Sill regretted that the old
Memorial Association was not nourish
ing and asked tho Chapter to tako
charge of tho work. This, they decid
ed not to do, but rallied to the stand
ard of the Memorial Association, deter
mined that it should still live.
The social hour was much enjoyed.

pany with an old-time song.
Refreshments consisting of ice cream
anil cake In dainty pink and white,
were served by the Misses Block and
Ixnilse Hirscli.

John S. Lindsay, and Mrs. W. J. Dunn
will be assistant hostess.

on Tuesday morning, iVpril 1th. at
the- residence of Mr. and Mrs. E. J.
Lewis, was solemnized the marriage
of their daughter. Miss Luolle Lewis
to Mr. Stanford \V. Van Landingham.
The wedding was beautiful in .its
simplicity. The hail ami east parlor,
here the ceremony was performed,
wore redolent of springtime with their
wealth of narcissus and jessamine,
used with many ferns. The soft .irleam
of sunshine that shone through the
windows, seemed to bring happiness
in their golden rays, and gave an
added charm to the scene.
At ten o'clock as Miss Mildred (iood
ale sounded the notes of Mendelssohn's
wedding march, itev., John A. Davison,
pastor of the First Baptist church, en
tered the parlor before the altar of
white and green, lie was followed by
Miss I. wis n nd Mr. Van Landingham,
who entered the room together.
The ring ceremony was used, and in
the midst of relatives and loving
friends, the marriage vows wore plight
ed. During the ceremony Schubert's
serenade was softly played. The bride
was becomingly dressed in a eoaf suit
of midnight blue taffeta, with acces
sories to match: her hat. a modish
spring model, was trimmed with coral
roses, and was worn with a blue veil
to match tile suit. Her corsage bou
quet was of Killarney roses. The
groom won* a handsome suit <?f Mack
broadcloth.
Mrs. Van Landingham is one of
Camden's fairest young women, lovely
in person and gracious In manner, she
numbers her friends by the score.
/Mr. Van I^anillngham, who came to
Camden several years ago from Heath
Spring, has held positions of worth
here.. For the past three years he has
held the ijosition of assistant cashier

don. He has many friends in social

ers again this spring, with here and
there a quaint revival; for Instanee,
at a recent fashion show, there ap
peared a most attractive costume. .a

is a question. It Is rumored that ma
terials are so scarce on tho other side
of the ocean this year, that many ah
old fabric is heing brought' out from

costume.' Etainine was a particularly
satisfactory summer fabric, cool, dura
l>le and soft. It woujd not come at

Serge is as popular a? ever, although
it is said that we may have our trou
bles in dyeing it later on. Attractive
combinations of taffeta and serge, and
faille and serge are seen in many of
the new suits for Faster. An ef
fective .suit of Cheruit's is fashioned
of mlxen dark blue covert. At a dis
tance it cannot be told from serge;
and of course, for the sport suit, tweed
Is very |>opular. A particularly
smart suit, made by Lanvln, is a light
gray tweed trimmed with French blue
broadcloth. There is very little of
the leather, introduced earlier in the
season, to be seen about the late coats
and suits, whether for sport purposes
or the regulation tailored use. Beer
clings to the notion in a novel cape
coat suit. The coat is fashioned of a
new waxed silk, which greatly re
sembles leather, especially vat a dis
tance r it is dark blue and is combined
with a skirt of dark blue gabardine.
I'aquln shows a coat of covert for
afternoon wear, trimmed with dark
blue patent leather, but, except for
motoring and such use, leather Is not
to in* reckoned with to any extenj.
Now and then an odd leather motif Is
appllqued to a hand hag. or trims a
sjx>rt hat effectively, but for most other
purpose#, satin has sui>ersoded it.
Kock Hill is making plans for the
Confederate Reunion which will be
held in that city April 25-26.
