Camden Defeats Bisliopville.
In a game of base ball Wednesday
afternoon between small teams repre
senting Camden and Bishopyllle, the
team known, as "Bull Dogs" defeated
HbdiopvHle by a score of 5 to 'A. Bat
teries for Camden were Herbert Wil
son and Corbet Boykln ; Bisliopville,
S. Carnes and Jake Leyy. Corbet Boy
kin and Victor Myers played the game
for Camden. Two weeks ago the Cam
den team went to Bisliopville and were
defeated by the Bisliopville bunch 8
to 0, and the youngsters were happy
over their victory Wednesday.
Stag Card Party.
An enjoyable affair of the week was
a stag card party given at the attract
ive new home of Mr. and Mrs. E. J.
MeLepd, on Tuesday evening. Mr. Mc
Leod was the genial host, and his
brother, Alfred Md,eod the honor
guest. The rooms were cool and invit
ing, and simply decorated In cut flow
ers and ferns. There were four tables
and the games went on with Interest
for quite a time. Ben Thurmond was
the fortunate winner of ,the score prize.
Refreshing punch was served all
during the evening, and at the close
of the game Ice cream and cake was
much enjoyed.

Henry Truesdule were their three
children and seven grand-children,

The only note of sadness that came
to mar the day, otherwise ho pleasant,
came when the absent ones of this
happy family cirole were recalled.
The gone from the loved ones here,
not even the long years can dim their
memories. They live ever in the loyal
loving hearts of those who loved
them.

Lights to Continue.
We have been requested by the man
agement of the Water and Light plant
to state that the report that the light
service would be discontinued at an
early date is unfounded and that the
service, will be given the jmblic with
out interruption.
The new power house is nearly com
pleted and the Commissioners expect
lights from their new plant by the
first of August. " Some delay has been
caused by machinery not arriving, but
the wiring all over the city is nearly
completed and the lights will *be fur
nished as early as the contracts call
for.
We understand that twelve laborers
employed at work on the new power
plant had to -quit their jobs Wednes
day, when the heat became unbeara
ble.

elaborately decorated in graceful, trail
ing vines and vari colored Japanese

ed seoiv cards and prizes were all em*

several guessing contests. . Miss Ellen
Williams was the fortunate winner of
one prl/.e, Miss Nancy Lindsay carried

cream and cake w*as served.
On Saturday afternoon Miss Nancy
Lindsay entertained in honor of her
house guefit. Miss Benliett, The rooms
were simply but effectively decorated.
Tables were arranged for sixteen girls
who played "Cshr Csrh." progressively
for tin hour or two. The hand-paint
ed score cards were attractive and
amusing. When the "round up" canfe
Miss Katherine Wallace was declared
the winner of the score prize, while
Miss Elizabeth Wallace cut the conso
lation. The. guest prize was a dainty
copy of verse by Edward McDowell.

In compliment' to Miss Pe^ry Belle
Bennett, Miss EulallC Yntes'gave^ a
straw ride on Monday afternoon. The
wagon was filled with a bevy of happy
ypityg girls, and after a long ride thru
country lanes, they stopped hy the cool
rippling waters' of the lake and the
hostess served a tempting lunch.
A most enjoyable (lancing party, of
tin? week was given at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. T. J. Kirkland in honor' of I
Kershaw deLoach who han recently re
tnrned from school in Virginia. About
three-score guests enjoyed the evening,
the majority being members of the
younger dancing set. Summer flowers
in lovely profusion were used for deco
rations and all the rooms on the spa
cious first floor were cleared for danc
ing. Ices were served during the eve
