D., 1913, in the above cause, I will offer for sale before the Court House door in Camden, S. A farmer once bought a mule at the market and named it Tough Hide, for J It looked as if it had been accustomed to more blows than food. He put the animal in his little clover field, and j this it seemed to enjoy very much. One rorning Tough Hide saw a troop of ats'-s coming down the lane, look- j ing rather thin. He asked them if they would like a nico feed of sweet clover. "Ah, wouldn't we!" brayed the asses. So tho mule with his teeth drew out the staple which fastened the gate and let them in. Soon after the farm er passed by, and saw tho animal? eating his clover, so ho got a cudpel and drove them all out. Ho not only gave tho asses a sound thrasl ng, but he thrashed Tough Hide as well.
