Our community was shocked yes
terday when it was announced that.
Mrs. Helton Hoard had Just .died at
her homo on Mill Street. It. came
;ia ii chip of thunder from a clear
sky to her- many friends, for no one
knew of her Illness which was very
sudden. <
Mrs. Hoard was before her mar
riage, Miss Mary Man. daughter of
the late John ('. Man, of this city.
ItoHt of her young life was spent in
Texas, hut for tho past several years,
shit has made her home in Camden.
Loss than a year ago she was mar
ried to Mr. Helton Heard, of this
elty, and today a dark shadow lias
fallen over a home that was bright
and happy for a few short months,
and our sincere sympathy noes on t
to the young husband in this the
darkest hour of his life.
Mrs. Heard leaves one brother,1
Mr. bawenee Man, and one sister.
Miss Lillian Man, who Is now in <
Florida on a visit, and the funeral I
will not be held until she can reach
home.
Mrs. Heard was a consistent mem- j
her of the Methodist Church ? a love
ly christian character, beloved by
all who knew hor The sympathy of j
the entire town goes out to the nrlef
?tricken family.

Adams, Tuesday afternoon. Mr.
AdamH was alone in his room at
the tiino and Mrs. Adams hearing
a fall, called to him and getting no
response entered the room and
found him lying on the floor face
downward. A physician was sum
moiled and he gave it as his belief
that tiie man was dead before lie
struck the floor, having been strick
en with appoplexy.
Mr. Adams was a Milan of quiet
disposition and had many friends
wiio will regret to hear of his death.
He was a native of Ohio. For a
number ol' years he was a resident
of Texas, but for the last. three
years has resided in Camden, at the
homo of his brother 011 East DcKalb
St root. Besides his brother in Cam
den, Mr. Adams is survived by one
brother and two sisters in Ohio,
and an only son in the United States
navy, who is at present 011 the S. S.
Maryland.
The funeral servU4?s were held at
tho residence of his brother, on
Wednesday, conducted by their pas
tor. Kev. F. II. Harding.
