I made every effort to see Hherlff Huckabee In order to learn what
disposition he was making of the tax executions placed In his hands
for collection, but regret to bay that he did come to the Court HoUso
during my uojurn there. The abwtraeU ou file show that Sheriff Iluck

While the Sheriff has apparently made no return of cash collect
ed, I learned from the Hank of Camden that he has on deposit, official
ly, the sum of $1,844.99. I am not Jn a position to state whether or
not this cash represents his collections of delinquent taxes however.

The incumbent Is a new officer and none of his work is included
In the settlement of June 30.,. 1913. It is sufficient, at this time, to
scate that I examined the Ixjoks In this office for the past year's work
and found the figures to compare accurately with amounts carried to
tne settlement sheet, and with the cancelled vouchers 011 file. The
only bonded district in this county appears to be No. 1. I find that
an Issue was authorized by special Act of the legislature, and sold an

Office of Supervisor.
The Supervisor keeps no lile book of Claims Audited and allowed
by the County Hoard of Commissioners, showing the distribution of
expenditures. The only book in use being a Register of Warrants Is
sued, giving t lie name of claimant, number and amount of claim only,
t his warrant register is apparently added on a machine for the pur
pose of the Annual Settlement, but the total figures were not entered
on the' book. 1 can say very little in favor of the books as kept In
this office. The Record of Minutes of the County Hoard Meetings
gives little information. 1 beg to call attention to Section No. 807,
Civil Code '02, Section No. 9 92, Civil Code '12, which requires that
the claims allowed be listed in the minutes of the meetings, etc.
The bonded indebtedness appears to be as follows:
25 year Court House 6 per cent Honds dated 1905, maturing
1930 . . . $26,000
20 year Hridge 6 per cent Honds, dated 1908, maturing 1928 40,000
30 year it. it. 5 per cent Honds, refunded, dated 1912, maturing
104 2.. . . . . . . . . . v . . . 95,000
Total outstanding Sept. 25, 1913 .. ,-.. . .. .. ..$160,000
Von will find a statement of expenditures for various ? county pur
poses. 1 desire to explain that the division of expenses was estimated,,
for the reason that tne Supervisor has not kept any isocounts of this
nature, and 10 obtain this data accurately from the actual vouclTers on
file would require considerable tithe and expense. I made an inspection
01 1 he Mipervnor s vein hers, which ! found in fairly good shape; a
ft'\v nowtnor, were not itemized and probated, as required by Section
No. 9 91, Civil Code '12. 'V

I beg to report that this officer has performed the clerical duties
of his office in a very creditable manner. Ills hooks are unusually

In connection with the Annual Settlement for the fiscal year ending
