Evident |y Camden's charms are
holding u goodly crowd of tourists,
who have remained over from the
Hunter holidays and muy bo aeen
now walking and 'driving about the
street a ana enjoying and admiring
the many handsome residences now
decked and festooned with wisteria,
and yellow Jessamine. *?
On? can hurdly realize that Buch a
change could take place in the
apace of u couple of weeka, t.o look
down the many broad streets, with
Ita avenuea of handBomo trees, which,
now In full leaf, form a perfect bow
er to walk under and Bklrtlng the
oountry roads, bordered with wild
crab applet rees and the Cherokee"

long way to find unything half aa
wonderful to look upon.
The fearful storms and floods
which at present are wrecking so
many homes and causing much sor

the Southland at this time of year,
and why so many people cannot be.
content to remain dowtn hero later
arid enjoy the quiet and peaoefulneM
of this old town Is a yearly question.
One topic of great Interest which
haa been causing comment ha* been
the. rumor that Mr, Half Bills, of

several winters here, was to become
a property owner in Camden, be
having picked "out one of the hand

being the old,McCra place, which
has been the property of Mrs. E. E.
Mandevllle. for the pastlO years,
she having spent quite a sum of
money In improvements and furnish

in Which each guest being, presented
with a paokage of chewing gum and
a card on which they were expected
to mould into shape a specimen of
horseflesh to be put on exhibition
and awarded ribbons by the Judge,
Miss Alice Huchinson, those falling
In this attempt were given sheets of
newspaper, which they proceeded to
tear Into the nearest resemblance of
a horse that could be done without
the aid of scissors and blindfolded.
The array of equestrian Which were
pinned upon the. wall awaiting the
judges decision were so amusing
that Judging from the shouts of .
laughter and merriment, there was
no doubt as to the success of the
evening's amusement. Among those
taking part were; Miss L. .Eldredge,
Miss D. Eldredge, Miss Lottie Mc
Klnny, Miss Lucia Yates, Miss Flor

of Mr. Farrow, Mr. John Vllliplgue,
Mr. Carl Rhenberg, Mr. Richard

The finishing event for the first

Kirkwood Orchestra, kept a large
crowd out on the floor, who, were
initiated into the many new styles
of dancing, now becoming popular
through, the Kftrth. arid South. Re
