profusion. The beautifully appoint
ed table, on which a delightful three
cours4 luncheon waa served, had ub

was an ivy railroad, with a minia
ture engine and train of cars, aud

the favors were small trunks filled
with candy ? the bride being favor
ed with a whitte trunk tied with
white ribbon. The place cards were
band painted kewples, with a verse
to suit each Individual" The read
ing of theae caused much amuse
ment. When the guests were again
amid the pink roses in the parlor,
the hostess brought in a rlbbon-i
bound suit ca#e. But, alas! it
was empty; she had cleverly hid
den several dainty accessories to
a bride's toilet, and the guests had
the privilege of hunting and the
pleasure of finding them, to the
delight of the happy recipient.

A Correction.
In last [week's Chronicle we sta
ted that Mrs. Ann Watts had made
a donation of flO to the hospital
fund ? 5 per cent of her sales.
Mrs. Watts is too .honest to take
credit for this. ?She says it is
the -California Perfume Co., and not
herself, who made the donation.
But Mrs. Waftts made the sales,
and if the donation did not come
directly from her, it was through
her efforts. However, we" yield to
her modesty in tbe matter and make
the correction.

Burns Entertains.
The birthday party of Master
Moultrie Burns on last Saturday af-*
ternoon was quite an event to about
half a .hundred little tots between
the uges of'two and fiVe. , I^ong be
fore the stated hour they began to
arrive in automobiles, carriages, go
carts and on fopt, and by 5:30 the
handsome home of Mr. and Mrs.. Jas
H. Burns <Jn Lyttleton street was
thronged wltb "the beBt,. and gaily
dressed," to honor the occasion
which has forged another link In the
golden ^hain - of childhoods - The lit
tle ones played out under the trees
all of the time honored games that'
never grow old. .Bye and bye they
were told to fall into lipe and march
The dining' room was their destina
tion and it indeed presented a. beau
tiful picture of a laM of dreams
and fairy love. All in pink and
white. A table covered with snowy
linen and decked with pink roses;
the center piece a beautiful cake,
with four pink candleB gleaming
from its snowy surfaee, and the
table laden with dainties ? the color
scheme of pink and white carried
out In the ice cream, cakes and can
dleB. A soft glow filled the rooms
from rose tinted shades and the lit
tle host received- his guests in a
handsome white suit with pink trim
mings. Beautiful ^oivvenirs were
given each guest, and tjiey were all
sent home happy, no doubt wishing
that birthdays \vere monthly in
stead of annual affairs. '
Moonlight Picnic.
.Another one oC, the week's bright
social pleasures was the moon-llght
picnic given at the Saddle and Pad
dle club iii compliment to ; some of
the fair visitors, who were here for
the Burnet-Marion wedding.
A dainty lunch was served, and
the party enjoyed boating on the
moon-Ik waters' Miss ' Mel 1 Whit
ner, of Sanford, Fla., and Miss Mar
garet Marion, of Chester, were the
honorees. The party was chaper
oned by 'Dr. Jno. w. Corbett, Mrs.
C. Q. Whltoker* and Mrs. Douglas
Richardson.

Thursday morning at 9 o'clock.
The roorps were beautifully dec
orated in palms, ferns, trailing
vines and all the flowers of the

und the occasion, coming as it did,
as a surprise in the mid-summer,
was made appropriately simple.
The bride's only attendant was
her sister, Miss Joe Lee Hay, and
her charming little nephew, Tftoni^
well Hay, was ring bearer. The
brt'de was quite dainty and attract
ive In a white lingerie dress and
hat, and carried an exquisite bou
quet of white (lowers. She was
glyen In marriage by her brother,
Dr. J. T. Hay. Mr. U. R. Brooks,
Jr., of Columbia, brother of the
groom, acted as best man, and the
ceremony was performed by Rev.
Thomas Hagerty, of the Catholic

cake and puneh were served. Mr.
and Mrs. Brooks left on the 10:30
southbound Seaboard for their home
