Mrs. Brannon died at the home
of Mrs. William Stewart r on South
Lyttleton street on Sunday last.
The body was taken (o Blaney for

Camden one day this week. He

Federal court in that city in the
matter of condemnation proceedings
for the slto of the new postofflce
building to be erected in Camden.
Mr. A. N. Sample, of Chester,
owner of the old DeKalb hotel, was
awarded a verdict of $12,000 and
Mr. I.. C. Hough was awarded a
vedict of $1,650. Both of theBe
properties were involved in the pro
ceedings, tho case being tried be
fore Federal Judge H. A. Smith.
This was the first . case tried be
fore him, immediately after being
sworn in. Tho sumB of $14,000
and $2,000,. respectively, were

At 11 o'clock on last Sunday
night, Mrs. Mary Hamilton Hallo,
died ?t .her, residence on Fair street.
Sh? -had been fti bad health for
spme time, but her frfends had no
idea that'the end was ho near, and
her death was ashock and sincere
grief to the entire community.
Mrs. Hallo was 63 years of age,
and belonged to one of the ipost
prominent North Carolina families.
She was iparried sometime in the
seventies to Capt. James L. Haile,
a gallant officer of the Confedera
cy, and until his death three years
ago, they made their home In and
near Camden ?a home noted for
1U hospitality. ?
Surviving her are two daughter#;
and twd sons. Misses Llssle and
Emma Hall*; Messrs. Benjamin
and W|lllam H. Halle.

and beloved by all who knew her.
The funeral service* took place
