Combustible, Explosive or
Dangerous Materials with
in the Corporate Limits of
The City of Camden, S. C.

Bo It Ordained by the City Council
of Camden, S. C\, in due session as
sembled tho 7th day of February, 11(10:
Section f. No person, linn or cor
poration shall, within any building,
within tho corporate limits of the Cltv
of Camden, store, manufacture or keep
for sale or keep for use in uny art,
trado or manufacture, or domestic
purposes, any liquid which will emit
an iullamable vapor at a temperature
below 110 degrees Fahrenheit, as test
ed in O Tagliabue's closed Pyrome
ter, except that if kept in closed metal
cans or bottles, not exceeding one gal
lon of gasoline, benz'.ne or naphtha
may be kept in any building, within
the corporate limits of the City of
Camden.
Provided that this shall not apply
to gasoline stored iu tho tank of any
automobile of standard make, whether
used for individual use or kept for
hire; and provided further that this
shall not apply to the gasoline kept in
the tank of any automobile of stan
dard make which may be irft, tempo
rarily, in any repair garage, for a
period not exceeding seven (7) days.
Section II. All apparatus used for
generating or holuinf acetylene gas
shall bo so constructed, located and
used as to secure tho greatest measure
of safety; ail such apparatus to be lo
cated outside of occupied buildings.

its of the City of Camden,, shall store,
manufacture or keep for sale or use in
any art, trade or manufacture or for
domestic purposes, gasoline, benzine
or naphtha ir> hulk unless same is
kept in metal tanks outside of any
building, or in a brick building at
least two hundred feet from liroad
street.
Section IV. No person, firm or cor
poration. within the corporate limits
of the City of Camden, shall store,
manufacture or keep for sale, or keep
for use in any art, trade or manufac
ture or for domestic purposes, any
calcium carbide, unless same is kept
in water-tight metal cans, having a
capacity r,ot exceeding one hundred
(100) pounds each, the aggregate quan
tity not to exceed six hundred (HOO)
pounds, provided that such cans of
carbide bo stored In a dry, water
proof, well ventilated place, and not
more than one broken package kept on
the premises at any one time
Section V. No person, firm or cor
poration shall transport, store, keep,
manufacture or sell any dynamite, ni
troglycerine or other substances or
compounds highly explosive and of
low stability, within the corporate lim
its of the City of Camden.
Section VI. That any person vio
lating the conditions of this Ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be fined a sum
of not more than Oncv Hundred Dol
lars ($100 00) or bo Imprisoned for not
more than thirty (30) days, and that
such imprisonment, may, at the dis
cretion of the Recorder of the City of
Camden, be accompanied with the ad
ditional requirement of hard labor on
the streets of the said City.
