Memorial Exercises.
Memorial exercises were held at
the cemetery on Monday afternoon
last at 5 o'clock. Major K. B. Can
tey acted as Marshall. Mr. H. G.
Garrison was requested to read the
roll of our Confederate dead and
present the Crosses of Honor to sur
vivors. After the completion of
the program at the stand the graves
of the Confederate dead were deco
rated. Toe Kershaw Gaurds were
present and three saloots were fired.
Mr. Carrlson was the recipient of
many congratulations for the per
formance of his part of the pro
gram .
Death of Mr. Walter Bailey.
Mr. Walter Bailey, of Blaney is
dead. His death occurred on Satnr
day last and he was buried on Sun
day. For many years Mr. Bailey
lias been a grfeat sufferer from riieu
mutism and for about five yoars has
boon confined to his bed nearly tho
entire time. Wo visitod him last
Summer and was struck with the
great patienoe and fortitude with
which he bore his great suffering.
Mr. Bailey was one of Kershaw conn
ty's beat citizens and leaves to his
family that prioeles heritage-^a good
name. To the bereaved ones we
tender our deepept sympathies.
