? B| a Had Dag
Mabel Gitford? the beautiful and
attractive little daughter, five
years old, of Mr* and Mrs. R. F.
Gilford, of our town, wa?, on last
Tuosday evening, bitten on the
hand by a mad dog. The .wound
was a very alight one, however, the
skin, it is said, not having been
broken. The dog was killed and
its head sent to the Pasteur Insti
tute at Baltimore to ascertain be
yond a douht whether, or not, the
dag was mad. A telegram received
yesterday afternoon, frpm the phy
sician of the institute, stated that
Ahe dog was suffering from rabies,
and Mr, Gilford left last night with
hie little daughter for Baltimore.
By this prompt treatment it is ear
nestly hoped that the little girl will
soon return entirely cured.
Certainly our city council should
lake immediate steps for the
prompt extermination of all dogs
not properly kept upon the prem
ises of their owners.
