Did Not Know The Chronicle Was So
Widely Bend
"I did not know The Chronicle
was so widely re-Ad," said an adver
tiser to us a day or two ago. "The
advertisement I inserted lust week
h is already brought me fully twen
ty inquiries. From all parts of the
county the inquiries have
come." While the statement wap
very gratifying it was not at h 11
surprising to us. We say it unhes
itatingly, but not boastingly, that
as an advertising medium The
Chronicle is second to none.
A Citizen FoelHThat He Has Been Un
justly Treated
W o the white citizens of the
western part of school district No 1
liato to appear in tho public prints
with a complaint, but wo feal that
we have been unjustly treated by tho
trustees For a long tjnie we have
needed a school here, being too fur
to send to the Oomdon school. After
r.iurh worrying with the trustees
they final ty agreed for ns to have a
school but the salary offered??
was not suffici^t to induce a teacher
to tako it. The negro teacher here,
if wo are not mistaken, is paid S30
or S'.io. Now wo don't want to ap
pear too hard to please, but wo
want to be treated at least ?s well
as the darkey. There are about 20
whito children hoi j without anv
school Advantages whatever and we
do not think it ought to be.
