learn of the sudden death of Mr. J.
D. Evans, of Smlthville, which oc
curred in the town of Sumter last
Monday night. Mr. Kvans had
gone to place ono of hie daughters
in one of tlje schools in Sumter and
was stricken with appoplexy aud
died within a few hoars. It was
only a few days ago we u?et Mr.
Kvanu on tho traiu and he seemed
to be as well, happy and jovial as a
mun could posaildy be and it is
hard to realize that we shall never
more stfe hie pleasant face in the
flesh. Mr. KvariB leaves a; wife,
several children, his father aud one
brother to wh-iui wt' te.nder our
