Spartanburg Lhth week Mr. O. N.
Nichols, supervisor of Abbeville
county, moved that the legislature
be memorialized to abolish the
State farm and hfre able bodied
convicts to tho different counties at
a nominal sum, say from $5 to *10
per month, to work on the roads of
the counties, Mr. Singletary
amended the motion us follows.
"That all persons convicted after
tho enactment of this law except
those sentenced to life imprison*
merit, be sentenced to work in the
counties where they nre convicted
