A Bright and Beautiful "Clover *
Chain,"
Many of the little girls and boyB
were made happy last week by re
ceiving the following invitation :
'?Will you be a link in our clover
chain Wednesday afternoon from 5
to 7."
Nancy and Nellies Lindsay.
At 5.30 iMrs. Lindsay's pretty
homo represented a veritable "bee
hive," wiih sixty bees on pleasure
bent, and for the time "living in
clover." They bound themselves
together with the white chain of
friendship, and the storm without
did not mar their pleasure, uor
cloud their happy fanes. Master
Nettles and, Miss Nancy played the
host and -hostess to perfection ?
they knew how to welcome the com
ing and speed the parting guests.
After the storm had cleared, and
all had been served with ice cream
and cake, so dear to every childish
heart, they went on their way re
joicing. The boys wero handsome
and galiant, the girls daily and
pretty, with their suuny brows
crowned with while clover blos
soms, which in the years to come
will be a happy reminder of child
hood's innocent pleasures.

find a good many thing advertised

forth in the ever inspiring stratus of

and the walls resounded to the echo
with the "rebel jell." The war

given to a packed house on Wednes
day night and was enthusiastically
received. The parade on Thursday
was largely attended though many
hundreds left Ihe city on Wednesday

ure of attending the sponsors' reoep>
tioti, but we have been informed by
one who was tbere, that the feature
of the occasion was the Qddress of
Miss Grace Lumpkin, the young
daughter of that gallant soldier and
