Death took Miss Mary MeKain. It
was known by all of her friends that
tho end wa* neat but an u u w i I i i n g
feeling to give h?r up clung to
those who loved her so well.
Miss McKain was a wom^n of no
bio - Christian character. JOndowed
with a mind to do good and an energy
to carry it out, she was constantly
applying herself to the beat she
could do toward t he Improvement of
tho minds of other*. A a principal

Supt. Gordon said :
'Sho was a martyr to duty as she
conceived it and amost conscientious,
faithful, able and successful educitor.

ucational ornament and a Christian
jewel in tho coronet of this city." *?.

Memphis; sho devoted all of her

Miss McKain found 'he greatest
happiness in cduoational interests,
and her intense devotion to duty
made her suffer nsoless anxieties,
which caased her unnecessary wor*
riment. All of us who have boeu
clo^h' associated with her well
know nio extraordinary onergy with
which she carried on her work. .
, For manv years Miss McKain had
Charge of the Poa'jody School, after
-mbioh time sho was transferred to
tuo Folkes (Jtffursoh street) school,
which position sho hold daring the
past sixteen yoi>s, and front which
school >>he will be sadly missed by all
of her faithful teachers and pupils
