McCreight and brother -in.lh^ of Mr. S. M. C. Moore of nur town, died at hU home In Che raw on the 8th inat. Upou receipt of a telegram announcing the death Mr. McCreight nnd Mr. Moore left for Cheraw and attouded the fune ral. We take the following fi'om The Cheraw Chronicle pf the 9'di inst : "l)r* W. 0. McCreight breathed his laaf. at his home in this town veaterd ay morning about B-o*clook. f)r. McCreight was one of the bent known and popular nun of j>nr town. For many monUL* tiis health has been failing tApWI)', and the announcement of lijU death did n??t come as a surprise to his many friends hire. The end came peace fully and calmly. NV. C. McCreight was not in o public sense a distinguished citizen, and although he nerved his towu ??nd county aa Mayor and County Commissioner respectively, hu w,?m not a leading politieian nor did he aulas* a fortune. Nevertheless he was a geuth-mm (f most worthy at tt ibutes and une.otnouly useful quali ties. U watt his nature to be kind and gentle. To any a sharp word or repeat a scandalous tale about his neighbors was ^wholly foreign to hia habit. The duties that fell to him he performed <?fllclently and faithfully, aud through the 53 years of his life he contributed from day to day, until his health failed, an honest share of work for the de velopment' of his towu. Truly among those who have been faith ful to Cheraw'a interests and tradi tions, Thefo has been nono more de voted than W. C. McCreight. Ho leaves to mourn him a widow and two sons.
