the antebellum times of course great
interest and curiosity were evinced
to see the interior of the bouse
with its beautiful winding stairs,
immensely tall ceiling,, largo rooms
and halls all thrown together with
folding doors. The windows all
open down to the floors, of wide
piazzas running around the entire
houae ou both stories. The 3C's

An elegant luncheon was served
consisting of a salad course with
sandwiches, coffee, chocolate, wafers
I etc. This beautiful place is only

Inspection of Military Companies
Gov. Heyward haa been informed
by the war department of the ap
pointment of Captain A. W. Hun
ter, of Illinois, and John C. Gill
roorr, of New York, aa inspecting
officers lo accompany the adjutant
general on bis tour of inspection
over the state. One of the appoint
ments may be revoked, however, aa
the governor has asked that Cap
tain M. C. Butler, Jr., be given one
of these appointments.
The Kershaw Guarda will be in
spected on Wednesday, April the 6.
