evading the now pistol law which
went into effect on .Tuly 1. By a
recent act of the Legislature it is
against Iho law to Bell or offer for
sale u pistol less than twenty inchos
in length or of weight less than
three pounds, which meant in the
original purpose tho non^ale of the
flrearm. Hut the dealers have
tnk^n advantago of tho fact that
the statute nays nothing concern
ing the leasing oif a pistol to any
one who may be desirous of pos
sessing the weapon. The. follow
ing advertisement appears in one of
tho pap'cru of Spartanburg:

The time for which a weapon is
lessed or rented is ton years, which
amounts to practically a sale. A
