Mr. Shannon's ef|a"o was uot consumed but caught and considerable headway was made by the flames between the overhead ceiling and through the windows all along the north side, and it was only by the most heroic efforts that this building was saved. J Post oUice, no Insurance; loss nothing While Mr. Shannon's store was not consumed tho loss sustained by breakage, stealage, etc., is roughly estimated at #4,000. At Mr. Villepigue's the stock was not allowed to be moved and his loss is comparatively small. Some damage was sustained by water leaking from the upstairs where the fire^ras fought. Aoross the street the damage to tho glass front of the store of Ilirsoh Bros. & Co , is estimated at $500. Mr. M. II. Hcyman also sustain ed nome loss by moving bis stock of Jewry.
