The only charge of unfairness comes from Camden and it cornea with au ill uroco from the only team that wan detected and railed down in an attempt to violate the rules governing the contes*. Resolutions Adopted at City's Meet ing, July 1st, 1902.. On account of the disturbance at the. Seaboard depot last Sunday af ternoon a meeting of the citiiens was be'-d on Tus*day afternoon last and the following resolutions adopted : ??Whereas, we have observed that, for some time pa?t, and especially within the last year or two, there is a growing disposition on the part of certain individuals of the colored population - lq Q or community to make thenUolv'es personally obnox ious and offensive to all law abidiug people : And, Whereas sqph condnot is a menace to the peace aud good order of society, and tends to provoke es^ trangement between tho races and bloodshed * And, whereas it is our desire to cheek such conduct and tendeooies before the nepessity may arise, for more severe remedies i HesolVed i 1st That we deplore and condemn such conduct, and call npon ihose guilty thereof, and their advfser4i)nd abetter*, to amend their behavior 2. That we believe such conduct is largely doe to the evil teachings of prejudiced and malicious persons, both white and colored, who pretend to be friends of the colored race but whose lessons can lead only to the injury of those who listen to them. 3. That we recognise and deplqre a growing disposition upon the pait of some of tho young among the white populL'ion to disregard the law ana the rights of others, and that we condemn suph disposition and 4W the lawlessness growing therefrom. 4. Our Fire Company in Sumter. Sumter Herald t Great praise is | due the. Camden team for its splen did effort. Thdse visitors have been forced to practice without water, ana eo tljey were naturally at a disadvan* Uga when they went up against the real thing. Tito company has a pair of horsfeu, a black and sorrel, that are woll matched and ahow speed and breeding in every lino of their hand some bodies. Tho rnn they made was something wonderfn1, from the start to the hydrant. They beat the time ojf all other teams, bnt from hy* drant the Judges stand they did not maintain the name fast gait, and while the nonncntions were well and quickly made their time was slower than that of both Delgar and Col urn , bia. No. 3. and not so good, as their] own record by 2 5 of a second. This team had- one disadvantage to con* tend against, bnt as they alone were to blame no kick should come from them. < When the hose was measur ed, just before the race, it was foand to be 6 feet too short, and they had to pat on another and longer section of nose for one of the shoat ones, making their hose about 18 feet long er than the rulee required.
