the Pennsylvania Railroad; from
Portsmouth to lialtimore over the
Baltimore Steam Packet Company,
and between Clinton and Columbia
over the Columbia, Newberry &
Laurens Railroad. This arrange
ment, includes the hooks issued by
the Florida Central Peninsular
and Georgia & Alabama Railroads.

Presbyterian church, in Mecklenburg
county, prior to her marriage to Jo
seph K. Kirkland, in lMlS. She was
therefore a member of the Church
for over half a century, during all of
which long period she was a most
devoted and exemplary member and
while loving her church above all
others, yet. *he was liberal in her
vows towards other denominations
and breathed, so to speak, in the
broad aimospliere of liberal christi
unity. Her walk and conversation
during all those fifty odd yaara of
her membership in the church wns
such as ?o convince nil those with
whom she came in contact that she
had been with the Wayior and learn
ed of him. Well do wo remember
her kind and almost angelic face,
wldch the writer cannot find words
to describe, which shows that when

She lived more for others than any
