Mr. Editor: ? Please allow me
space id your valuable columns for
a f? \v hints from the city of West
ville.
The eiops are looking fine. Of
course 1 mean the crops in general
an<l the grass cropd especially.
We have some very progressing
young fariueis starting out. They
are energetic, enthusiastic young
fellow*. One of them certainly
means business. He says he in
tends keeping bachelors hall dur
ing 1901. 1 will tell j*ou what his
crop consists of and leave it with
you and your many readers to de
cide whether he does or not. His
crop is 14 acres cotton, 10 acres
corn,or 5 acres of oats and a big
potato patch. He is also engaged
in another very profltable/busineen.
He has some kittens, 8 puppys, two
old dog?, a fine lot of pigs and is
trying to buy a cow. The pigs
will soon be hogs. He first built n
40 foot square poll pen and fed
them on white flint rocks (or at
least that was all that I saw tu the
pen) to rat and 1 took it for grant
ed that he fed tticm on the rocks
to harden their fat. He kept them
this war until plums got ripe when
he built a pen around the plum
trees and put them in it, aud he
goes three times a day wiift pure
water and shakes the tr</cs. As
?oou as the plums are exhausted he
has some very fine porsiurtmon ttees
near by and he contemplates split
ting a stick and putting their tails
in it and raising thptn on a level
with the persimmons. So you sec
there is more way* to raisn pork
than one. Now </ne other point on
him aud I am through with him.
He has purcliAtferi a tract of land
ahd ftrh'tsttTf him a house site. Now
Mr. Editor, you are a good Judge
of human nature and I will leave
ilie above with you Q9 to whether
there is any bachelors hall in U or
ttui. ...
... There la another very extensive
young fitter op here. Ho has al
so picked iiitn out a bouse site and
hat piled life rooks where he can
handy come at " them in ease of
emergency. I will' say thai lbs
