N Marshall wore elected delegates to the Confederate yeterans re-union in Nashville which take placo on the 28th of May. A Fine Specimen of Wheat. Wo wore shown a few days ago a fine spooimon of wheat raised by Mr. J. M. Hall. It measured 5 feet and 2 inches, and wns grown on land without any manure. We trust that thin sample is indicative of a large yield of wheat all over tho country. A Card. In tho yard on Lyttleton street,#!) Camden, of Mrs. McDonald whose death is announced to-day is a rose bush. When Mrs McDonald was married over sixly yeais a<io there was on this bush one rose which was plucked and worn by the first brides maid at Mrs. McDonald's marriage. From this same lmsh o? Wednesday last roses were plur^rod ami placed upon Mrs. MoDt^md's coffin. After Mauy Years. Mr Henry O. Barnes, formerly of this County, but. now a drugirist of Roa noke, Ya., after an ftVs'onoQ of over twenty 3' ours, spent several days in our midst list week. His trip to Ciuodcn was ono of business aed pleasure. His friends here and in ?tho country too. are always glad to see any of tho Barnes boys. Henry hopes to mako his visits to Camdon more frequent hereafter. Graduated With Highest Honors. Mr. Robin Zemp, son of Dr. K. Leslie Zemp, returned on Wednes day from Baltimore whero he h;is been attending tho Maryland College of Pharmacy, ami where, at tho close of tho recent session, he won the medal for analytical chemistry. We welcome him back to Camdon j\nd congratulate him upon his new honors. Deaths. Mrs. McDonald, who for many yeais lived in Camden died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Janie Hawkins, at Lynchburg, Sumter o.ounty, on last Tuesday, in the 91st year of her age. Her remains were brought to Comden for inter ment. Mr. J. L. Gettye, Sr., died at hie home in West Wateree on Tuesday last. Mr. Getty b was one of our oldest and most highly respected ciOlzens, and leaves a large number r>l friends and relatives to mourn 'his death. The burial took place on Wednesday in West Wateree. That New Railroad. Some time ago Tho State anuounc ed that it was proposed to build a new line of railroad from W innshoro to Camden where a junction with tho floahoard Air Lino will bo made. ^ Iiq purposes and ail vantages of such ft road wcro set forth at the time. As much impatience has been shown by the public over tho open lug of the Camden Steam Laundry The Ohroniclo hns made some inquir ios about, tho matter and is informed that the laundry would have been J icady for work' four wenks a<jo if the manufacturing of tho macbihery had not been unavoidably delayed. -We learn from Mr. Nisbet that tho order tor tho laundry machinery was placed some olght weeks a^o, and while the factory has been mak ing every effort to turn out tho laun dry plant promptly, a serious stride I among Cincinnati machinists h#fl| caused an unexpected delay. Mr. Nisbet says that according to latest, advices from the. factory he can ex pect arrival of the machinery almost any day and that it can not be very long before the laundry is ready for operation. ? - ~ ? -O- ? - Passenger Trains Put on the S.
