?villeanys: "Quite an alarm wk?i
.occasioned here ou last Saturday
afternoon by the report that there
was a ease of smallpox on a plant
ation in the suburbs of the town,
in a family of negroes. One phy
sician who examined the case pro
nounced it not smallpox. Dr.
Kvans was wited to send an expert
here, and Dr j Racot and Health Of
fleer Reardon came in today and
proceeded^&t once to make an ex
amination of the cases, of which at
this tijjno there seems to be three,
I)r. Jrocot pronounces it ^genuine
smallpox, and vaccination of all
?colors, ages and conditions is now
