For the past few years in some
sections of the South, considerable
attention bas been given to plant
ing pecan trees, and the results
have heen so satisfactory and the
profits realized so large that prom
inent persons that are thoroughly
posted, claim that an acrc ?et to
pecans is worth *200 and the coat
of setting the trees out will not be
?3 an acre. A few years ago, pe
can trees sold at from fifty cents to
one dollar a picce, but now the
PineblufT, Grape and Pecan Co , of
PibehlulT, N. CM a reliable concern
is selling the trees at $8 a hundred,
and twenty five trees will set an
acre, as the trees soon grow very
large it will not do to plant tbem
nearer than 40 feet. The trees
abould really be set about 50 feet
apart. We advise our farmers to
write to this company and buy a
hundred or moro trees, or If lliey
prefer, they can send their orders
through the Editor of this paper
for a hundred or less. If they are
-ordered in smaller lots, then prices
are higher, one tree 15 cents, six
trees 85 oeate/oae dozen 91.35, fifty
