An Unfortunate Accident.
A few dn^s ago while some of
the school hoys were playing foot
hull on the public square the head
of the dove on the Con federate
monument was broken oil'. The
accident is an unfortunate one in
that it disfigures tho nppetiranee nf
the monument, and one which the
boys regret very much.

Mr. <\ C. Sowell, died ,->aL 211 ill
wood, Ga., on Wednesday of last
week. Mr. Sowell was formerly a
resident of this county and his
body wag brought back to the town

of bepi., for interment. Deceased
was a brother o f.tfrs. VV, R. Hough,
??f our- town, and leaves a little
chilti only a few weeks old. Mrs.
Sowell will now make Kershaw
her home.

Willie, the little 24-year-old son of
Mr, H. F. Kroitj), died, His body
was brought through the county to

Camden, where the burial took

Dr. W, F. Strait, one of Rock

physicians, died on the 1st instant,
of.Bright's disease of the kidneys
fie was a brother of Congressman

nnrsed him in his last illness. He
was well and favorably known here,
whero he occasionally paid both pro
fessional and social visits. lie was
a roan of fine christian character and
