political pot begins to simmer, I
feel that f must break the silence,
and let you know how we stand up
hero on politics, although the people
can't make up their mind until they
see the various candidates on the
stump, and I ntn i*nder the impres
sion that it would be will for a lot
of candidates to yet enter the field.
It would have a tendency to enthuse
tho people, and to educate fhem. If
only a few candidates come out, it
will not be an interest ng campaign
at all this year, as only a few offices
are tio be filled. Therefore I would
suggest to the boys that- they neod
not be uneasy if they are beaten this
time, it will not lessen their chances
next time. Men arc not always vo>t
ed against because they are disliked,
and as old Butler said, it is hard to
tell what 'he verdiot of a petit jury
or the decis:on of a primary election
will be. The man who least expects
to win ma}' win, and if be looses it
will not injure his chances next
time. (
