complete and immediate cessation
of hostilities in Cuba, the return

ence of Cuba, this last, feature ',o
be secured probably on an indem
nity basin by which the island

freedom from Spanish rule.
It has been made perfectly clear
to Spain that nothing Icms than the

ence of the island will sulliee as an
adequate settlement.
