Well Answered.
Mr. Editor: ? In a recent issue
of The Chroniclo several questions
were asked the pastors of Camden
to which we reply :
1. All visible and material
things had a maker; the earth is a
visible and mateiial thing; there
fore the earth had a maker.
2. All invisible, immiterial and
spiritual beings exist in a manner
inexplicable to the human miod;
God is an invisible, immaterial and
spiritual beirifg; therefore God's
existence ia inexplicable.
3. All finite objects of wonder,
skill and design perceptable to the
senses had a makei ; the world is a
finite objeot of wonder, skill and
design perceptable : to the senses;,
therefore the world had a maker.
4. Ail Infinite beings of wonder
skill Sod design imperceptable to
the senses, exist iojMrfMicably ; God
is an infinite wouderful, skillful
and designing being imperceptable
to the senses; thereforo God is in
explicable.
5. To think of something com
ing out of nothing is unimaginable ;
the earth is something created out
of nothing, so far hb previously ex
isting material is concerned, there
fore the creation of the earth out
of nothing is unimaginable.
But, though, unimaginable, it is
not to be rejectod. "We have to a
certain extent an aid to the
thought of absolute creation in our
own free volition, which, as abso
lutely originating and determining,
may be taken as a tvpe to us of
the creative act. We speak of the
creative faculty of the artist or
poet. We cannot give reality to
the producta of our imaginations,
as Gcd can to his. But if thought
were only substance the analogy
would be complete." X.

I see some of the correspondent*
have had lots to say about "isms"
especially mormoniam. Now Mr.
Ed. don'l you think it best and
shows more of a christian spirit tc
help one another and not be so
ready to criticise and condemn
Jthem. Nothing is so disgusting as
[to hear a man deal out Judgment
against anvone who happens to
differ from him in opinion, espe
cially religious opinions. I think
if we take justice for our guide we
will let the mormons slone. The
chief purpose of christian know

of chriatian life. Thia knowledge

Alter momhs of pain and sickness,
with a will resigned to the decree ot

wife of Mr. J. 11. Phelps, took iUs (light

I low she will be missed in the home, in
thRchnreh, in tho community. One of
t tie purest, sweetest and best ot moth
ers is no more; one of tho slncerest
and most devoted of friends has gone
out from among us; a beautiful, chris
tian life is ended, and in h^r death the
sorrowing, aching hearts are not con
lined to the homo circle of t he do 'eased,
but Is shared by all who knew her. In
her life she emulated the example of
her Savior iu that she "went about do
Ing good."
Iler highest ambition seenud to be to
render some loving service to her tel
low creatures, ami to point lier own
loved ones to tho Cross.
A husband, four sons, two daughters
and a number of other relatives and
friends mourn her death. Into their
griof to-day our heart of sympathy
travels. Indeed a personal bereave

thu doareat friends on earth to us, and
our heart Is deeply saddened at her de
parture. Iler life was well spent in
loving deeds of kindness aud obedi

trusted.
