have decided to consolidate and build a
road connecting the two towuft which
tboy represent. The Brookland com*

river to counect their lino with Colum
bia. Tho plan now js that tho Lex
ington company, whioh is ooioposod of
some of tho strongest mon tn tho conn
tv, and who arA' determined to carry out
the purposes of their charter, build
their road to Brookland, where it will
couuoot with tho road of that town.
Then these two companies which hnvo
combined with tho Columbia Electrio
Ktroot Bailway company, together with
tho latter, will build abndgeacross tho
river and operate an elootrio lino whioh
will conneot the threo towns.
The whole distance over which tho
lino will opcrato will be fourteen miles,
and in addition to tho passenger lino
the companies propose to run a liuo of
freight cars and expect to do a large
businoss. Already tney havo a guaran
tee of 86.00 freight per day by ouo of
the Lexington factories
The new bridge which will be built
will be a handnome piece of engineer
ing. Jt is necossary to havo #4U,000
BubBcribed to build tho bridge, ono
fourth of whioh will bo paid in, in order
i to get it started. Tho remaining $o(\
000 will bo floated with.bonds. In this
way the plan can he carried through
without, nnv trouble. Tho company
will charge a small toll for tho uso of
tho bridge -smaller thau is now charged
for crossing tho present bridge, aud in
this wpy the indebtedness, which will
havo to be incurred, will bo liquidated
in fire or six years,
