The other day as wo were plod,
ding our way toward town, wo wore
overtaken by the Rev. Mr. Brown
who kindly asked us to tako a sent
with him. No sooner wore wo seat
ed in his buggy than wo began, as in
our wont, to croak about hard times.
We continued to croak until wo had
evidently greatly annoyed Mr.
Brown. At last ho said that ho had
heard a lot of croaking about ? 'niird

us that the good brother wished to
meditate on bis sermon, ho we shut

In a surprisingly short timo wo
roached tho church whore Mr, Brown

ued otir way. Soon we wore over
taken by a stranger who said that he
was on angel socking some one to
bring prosperity to the world. Wo
took him to bjp a crank, but as he

to us. Ho said that it required
nothing but calling upon it to come

we wished we might go with him for
a while, lie then struck whip to
his horse, and sooner than it taken

the angel told tho President, who ho
was and offered hi in the wand. To
our surprise ho hesitated a little ami
at last said that on ho important a
matter bo must commit Mr. Hanna.
Turning from him in disgust, the
angel said that ho would next try
the late Democratic candidate tor
president. It took uh but a short
time to mako our way to Nebraska
and find Mr. Bryan. In roply to
i he angel's offer, he said ho must de

licans boing in power thoy would got

ing the western prairies, wo travelled
for a while through cotton fields.
Soon thingB began to look familiar,
and In no great while wo arrived a?

when tho angel overtook uh. Here
he offered the wand to the senior
member of tho firm of Shoddy, L te
walt & Co. Wo thought Mr. Shod
dy would Burftly wave it, his firm
having been forced to compromise
with their creditors at fifty cents on
the dollar last fall. Hut we wo??
again disappointed. Upon, being in
formed that it would bring prosper
ity to everybody, ho said that he
feared that if ail prospered it won'd

Qo ng out into the country, the
angel made tho usual offer to Mr
Lee N. Farmer. Mr. Farmer took
tho wand and started to wave it tint
stopped, saying that it prosperity
should come to everybody it woubl
be impossible to control labor. n?.

dejected because no one would wave
the wand of prosperity, so wo ven
tured to suggest that it would be
well to try a preacher, they prob.i
bly would he more likely to do some
thing for all than any other class of i

the Rev. Mr. DjUc Item's, he stopped

' greatest pleasure to do anything for
the benefit/of mankind, but would
