gcno)St*datutea of South Carolina
revitton and approved in 1893, Suc

laws, page 182, described the North
western boundary of Kershaw Conn*
ty ?b follows :
Northwestern boun lary of Kor

, Southern boundary of Lancaster
County: ? "On tho South by Ker

ed by a lino beginning at. a point on
the Wutereo river half a inilo above
Peay'a Ferry and running (north 17
degroCB east) si& miles ami thirty
seven and u n til f chains, thonee
(north 71? east) forty Bov.cn chains
thcnco ( north 72A" east) twenty
chains and thirty links, thence (norib
48? east) sixty-three chains to where
the Hooky River Koad crosses the
Hanging Hock crock, thcnco south
following the Camden road down to
a point opposite to Miller's houso,
or at tho head of a branch (if II ant
ing Kock crook, thence (north 02.j,?
cast) fourteen and a half miles or
until It intersects Lynehe's Kivcr at
Harrisons Ford.
Tho correct legal boundary lino
between said counties is defined in
Act No. 200, approved ^December
24th, 1892. as follows: -Tfoginning
at a point on Catawba Kiv<>r A mile
above Peay's Ferry, thcnco north
54? east 0 miles G2 chains to stone
corner near ltussel l'lace; thence
north 74? cast, 1 milo 37 chains and
50 links to corner at Hammonds

caBt, 2 miles 03 chains to stone cor
ner near Hanging Kock liridgo;
thcncc south along tho Salisbury
road 4 miles 1G chains to corner
near Bethel churoh; thence north
CC? east, 14 miles 7(! chains, 1G
links to jLynehcs River. soperat.ing
Chesterfield from Kershaw ami Lan
caster Counties."
The foregoing copies of boundary
line of Kershaw a Lancaster coun
ties copied from revised statutes of
1893 and act of 1892 aro all ditlor
out. . The revised statutes of IS'J!'.
are later than the act of 1802 and
is not correct. This might cause liti
gation. Actions (criminal) nre re*
quired to be brought in tho county
whoro the ofTonco is committed.
Liens or mortgages are required to
be recorded in county where tho
property is loeated etc. Hence the
necessity of having the boundaries
of counties correctly defined. I
therefore respectful)' call the atten
tion of the Senators and Representa
tives from Kershaw and Lancaster
Counties, and nsk tlieni to liayc
the defocts in said boundaries cor
rected. I would also call their at
tention to tho fact that tho revised
statutos of 1893 were adopted with
out reading in either house of the
General Assembly; therefore there
may be other errors committed in
tho revision of said statutes which it
would bo well to examine and com
pare with tho original acts.
.James K. Magill.
( Note ? Tho words and figures in
bold face show those that differ
from other defined boundaries. ? .1.

1'hcse "throat coughs" are
