Factory Dam Broken.
La^t Tuesday night about 8
o'clock the new cotton factory dam
broke at I ho flood gates near
Green's bridge. About 75 yards
of the dam is washed away. The
bridge below ihe dam on the pub
lic road is ?lso washed away, there
by cutting of)' travel entirely on
that road. The cost to repair the
damage is variously estimated at
from $5,000 to $15,000. It is the
purpose of the factory company to
repair the dam sit once, but it will
nece?sarily compel a delay of two
or three months, ,

Tom Price, colored, was lynched
near VVcstville on last Sunday,
Pi ice -was from Rock Hill and had
just completed a scrrfcaj^ee in the

back home. When near Westville
he attacked with criminal interest
a sixteen yerr old daughter of Mr.
Wm. A.Ibnfleld. The young lad}',
accompanied by her little brother,
was on her way to her uncle's,
about a mile distant, and after fol
lowing them in a foot, path for
some distance in the woods lie
drew a pistol and deliberately shot
the little boy through the breast
inflicting a dangerous wound in
tending to kill him and outrage the
young l'?dy, tint she fl?>d and gave
the alarm. The negro -beo.vre
frightened and ran but he was hot
ly pursued by a crowd and was
caught a few mil.es above Camden
He was ennied buck and identified
by the children. He also confess
ed that he intended to kill the lit-#
tie boy and ou? rage the young lady.
