As we are on the eve of another election year, and the names of certain gentlemen to be voted for, are to some extent be ing considered by the people, I beg space in the columns of the peoples' paper (The Chronicle) to present to the voters of the Fifth Congress ional District of South Carolina the name of Mr. John C. P. Wil liams, of Camden, ns a suitable man to represent them in the House of Representatives in Con cress. Mr. Williams is a man of character, ability' and firmness; po litically, he is a protectionist and biraetalists and is in full sympathy with every movement that will en courage and build up h.nne enter prise and industry, and protect those engaged iu agricultural, man ufacturing and all other pursuits in our own country from the ruin ous competition of underpaid la bor of foreign countries. Little it concerns nine-tenths of the American people whether there be one dollar or oue billion in the Treasury if there is no way for them to gdt it.
