in the evidenco was not sufficient to

handed us to pass upon, and our duties
in relation thereto which have enabled
us to dispatch business more rapidly
than we could have otherwise done. /
The Public Roods are in as good con
dition as we could expect them to be
with the present plan of working tliem.
But would recommend that a Cham
Gang bo established by tho County
Hoard of Commissioners, with which to
woikthc Public ltouds. ,
We find the Jaii in as good condition
dp we could expect it wilb the piesent
building and thai the prisoners aro well
eared for. But would recommend the
erection of a new jail exclusive of a new
Court House. We find from enquiry,
which is altog.thyr reliable, that a
new jail can be had at a cost not
excoeuing seven thousand dollars
and we recommend that tho Count}'
Board or Commisioners bo empowered
by. the next Legislature W issue bonds
against the county not exceeding seven
thousand jlollars. with which to erects
new jail and with these bonds floating ut

ness, bob principle and interest,
can bo discharged in ill
seven years with n half mill
levy each year on the taxable property
in the county.
We recommend that 12 do/.en spit

Court House <as a sanitary measure) if |

by the Board of Health and clu'reed by
your Honor,; and that notion? he place
upon the backs of tho benchcs at the
Court House by the Sheriff, forewarn
ing all persons from spitting on the floor,
and that be bo empowered to impose a
fine on those violatinr the notice. .
