The Stat? Fair.
It give# us great pleasure to
%ay that the StaTR Aguicul
TUltAL AM) MECHANICAL SoCIKTY
is in condition to carry on the
great work in which it has been
engaged, looking to the?dvanee
ment of the Agricultural and
Mechanical interests of our
State, and that theusual Fair
will he hold in Columbia, No
vember 1 1th tw loth, under the
brightest- auspices.
All the money arrangementH
tiave been made for paying
premiums and other expenses.
-The rulroaili have acceded
c to our request, and have given
us a rote of One Cent per Mile
counting both ways for three
days during Fair week.
Excursiou trains will he run
during this tiniu, ?o- that it will
bo convenient and cheap for
the greater part of the people
f.o attend.
The revision of the Premium
List is in the hands of the com
mittee n pointed for that pur
|>ose and will soon be ready
for distribution.
It is highly probable that
some fine racing will be wit
nessed, in addition to the other
attractive features.
The last two fairs were as
full and equal in all respects in
point of the number and the
excellence of exhibits as any
preceding Fairs, though more
elimly attended because of the
excessive railroad rates charged
visitors. All these draw-backs
have been satisfactorily ad
justed. there is no reason why
?v this Fair should not be as suc
cessful as any heretofore held.
Attend the Fair, and encour
age us with your presence, and
assist in this ?*reat enterprise.
