I wish to state that the report
is false. I, With others was elected]
to represent tho Beaver Dam Dem
ooratie club at the mass meeting
held in Camden, June 29lh, '95.
While the mass meeting wasjJn ses
sion, Hon. 1'. J. Kirkland offered n
Ret of resolutions, favoring the div
ision of delegates to the Constitu
tional Convention at a ratio of one
Conservatives and two Reformvrs ;
I, with the other delegates' from
Beaver Dam" club, voted against!
these resolutions, we favoring a di
vision of delegates rn Kershaw
county, provided fll conservative
counties would divide upon the
same basis; but tuc conservative
n^tun tics' ? would not divide,
th^^ore I opposed the division in
this coV^ty. Now? the report is
that ' I^^acting as executive
committeeman from JJeaver Dam
went into the executive session and
thf?re voted for a diysion of dele
gates, after the delegates, from my
club had opposed and voted against

Dear Chronicle : ? Since I last ap
peared in your columns I havo lied
ilie pleasure of visiting one of the
most beautiful cities in the Soutii;
and now 1 shall endeavor to give
you a sketch of the Recursion to
Augusta. The train consisting of
live coaches, two whites and three
uoloiod, left Camden about 9. 30
o'clock on tli 3 evening of the 22.
carrying many bright smiles and
glad hearts. Most of the nigh'
was spent very pleasantly ,i oavers
ing with friends; but later in the
morning, ouo would for a short
while bo lost in the land ? ? f dreams.

o'clock a. m. The city was s^ bril

that wo heard some one say
that the sun was rising. Wcl\the
ore vd was very soon scattered,
some going to hotel* and others go
ing the homes of relatives to re
fresh themselves. After rest'ng a
while, we soon found ourselves on
board a street car, not an old horse
car such as they have in Chrlcstoti
either, but an electric that runs
from 11 to 15 mile? an hour. First
we visited the cemetery, which was
the prettiest we haye ever, scon.
Next we took a car for Summer
ville, an 1 from there we went to the
river and then luck to dinner, which
you may be sure, we ale with great
relish. About 4 o'clock wo bade
our friends good-bye, and took a
car for the depot; there we had to
to wait some titrr, but about 5:30
o'clock, r>. m. tho train left. Angus
la and was soon speeding across
the country foi^G-flfbden, where it
arrived at 12 o'clock. I must say
that I never enjoved a trip more in
my life, irin simply charmed with
Angus! i? , air?d-' tho surrounding
country. ""Wte cannot begin to teil
all that we saw, but those that, did
not go certainly missed lots of fun
and pleasure. It was much nicer
than the ChaiK-ston excursion.
