We left Caruden about 10:5, with
a train of 8 coaches ? three for the

cursionists. Mr. J. J. Goodale

preserve order. The crowd seemed

the Camden base ball team got off,

suppose the Landlady was not ex

pressure of the increasing crowd,
and about the time we made our
departure, some of tho guests were
calling for beef that, proved so an
cient, that it reminded us of ^dig
ging a ditch somewhat, for the more
you cut off, the longer it sets, and
the longer they "chawed" the beef
the larger It got. Some of the vis
itors attended to their business in
the morning, some went to see their

the cotton factories, one, I under
stand that woiked 700 looms. But

About 5 o'clock, tho fool-sore
and sleepy ex ursionists began to
gather at the depot. Wo 'were
promised faster time on t'te return

Flyer" ? pulled us back in about 5
hour*. I* was not Ailjv fortune to
have a very comfortable seat on
our return. Some of the e?owd

lady passengers.
. There were very few casusities
worth mentioning, I bellove. One
young roan was struck over tin left
eye with a brick or rock thrown by
* darkey just as the train was leav
ing Chaileston. It ie also reported
that a darkey that was thrown off
the train for l?eaiing his wa.Vj has
since ?tt<*d of his injuries, but can
not vouch for the authenticity of
the ttalement. Some of the Orange
bur party became very u?ar being
