The State now has 51 head of
mules and horses on its farm ten
wilos below Camden ? 37 on the De
?\8ausure place, and 17 on the Reed
place. The managers have about
500 acres in cjtton, GOO acres in
>cdrn and 200 acres inXt^aats on the
DeSausuro place, and on the Reed
jilaco they* hAv'e 366 acres in cotton,
<360 acaes in corn and 50 acres in
oals. The oats land is to be plant
?ed in peas as soon as the oats are
?cut oil". The JDeSausure place is in
?charge of Capt. E. C. Allen, and
?the Reed place is in charge of Capt.
?J. ?J. Cooley. Roth farms are in
very good condition. As this farm,
?is now run entirely hjr the State we
have concluded to give from time

time foe the Camden Graded
School and patrons. The enter
tainment took place at tl)n Op'jrr.
House and till available space in
the large building was utilized.
The exercises were commenced
by declamation from the literary
society of the school, the intro

been improved up. The scene rep

dreamed that a faiiy touched llis
portraits and -that they came to life
and danced before him.

ICirkland and M. L. Smith appeared
opon the stage and pioceoded to a
ward tlie medals, Mr. T. J. Kiikland
being chosen to deliver them, which
he did in a very happy manner.
