On Saturday morning, March 3*\ the 1st division of the Fairfield (Jnion met with the Friendship Church, West Wateree. '1 he day was bright, at <1 pleasant and as the representative s ?>f the different churches would drive op fnm dif ferent directions it was evident that a good lime could be expected, 'and sure enough we had. it. StllMs, who was kept at home on account of sick ness, Brother Smith was subse quently elected Moderator pro tern and Iho meeting declared ready for business. The names of the d? legates ami their respective churches w?re en rolled and ufter the reading of the minutes of last meeting the reports of clinrchea and Sunday school* ! were beard, many of which weie very encouraging. The Moderator did not propose to sit back on his dignity and allow oth er brethren to do all the talking, and during the discussions would call Hi other Atkinson lo the c'lair. When his turn came on the 4 Mi query he called for Brother Atkin son with the rental k tUat there was another speech in hiu and it just had to come out. The 6th and last query was then called and read as follows: "Are we as christians carrying out the teaching* of scripture as contained in Romans 12th chapter and 28th verse: If it be possible, as much mm lietli in yon, live peacuhly with ail ini*n." ' Sunday morning at an early hour the house wis filled to its utmost seating capacity, and the Sunday school superintendent, Mrs. Sullie Gray, requested your scribe lo con duct the Sunday school exer* ises, a compliment that -vas very highly appreciated. At the close of these exercises the acting superintendent introduced Brother Howell Morrell, a man of tine moral character, who spends his Ife in the training of young minds. Ho is a great Sun day school worker, and of course we had quite a Ileal in the foru* of an uddress. Brother J. F. Smith, superinten dent of Bctil.'ih Sunday school, was next intioduced and in his usual muniier gave a spirited and fttll directed talk o.i Sunday school woi k.
