Notice had heen posted in the neighborhood warning against arson, murder and rape. Several white men wCm to the church for the purpose of arresting three negroes and did so. The negroes were carried before a Justice of the peace and ordered hclo fqr a hearing by the grand jury. The sheriff uccompunlfd the prisoners and saw them safely landed in the Selma jail.
