in each local celebration.
The Department of Superintend
ence of the National Educational
Association, at its annual meeting
in February, ISU2, indorsed the
proposal aad appointed the Stale
Miperiatendents of fMucatiyn as a
General Committee to lead the ctl
ebraiion to their sevenu State>.
An Executive Committee was also
tlected tj prepare a uniform pro
gram for use iu every locality in
the Republic, and to take direct
charge of the movment.
The striking titness of such a
Public Scb.?ol demonstration will
appeal to every patriotic teacher.
I It will give worthy prominence to
the Common School as the fruit of
four centuries of American lite, li
will bring before the eyes of our na
tb?n and the world, on a scale of
proper magnitude, what North
Americau civilization owes free ed
ucation. ft will also We a valuable
lesson in intelligent patriotism to

Public Schools.
