Substitutes for the afternoon were: Mrs. Mortimer Boykin, Mrs. Frank Spencer and Mrs. G. E. Taylor. High score prize was won by Mrs. J. L. Williford, the con soaltion prize was cut by Mrs. Mor timer Boykin. The hostess served a sweet course with coffee. Dr. J. Sumter Rhame of Charles ton attended the funeral of his uncle Mr. Boykin Rhame. McLeod delight fully entertained at bridge compli monting her sister Mrs. William Rog ers of Virginia who is spending the Christmas holidays here. Red berries holly and greens made an attractive setting for the tables. At the party MondaF afternoon prizes were won by Mrs. Dan Murcl^ son, Mrs. Henry Niles and Mrs. A. D. McArn. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Alfred McLeod and Minnette Boykin were the prize winners. The honor guest also received an attractive gift. The hostess served delicious re freshments consisting of a chicken salad course, sandwiches and coffee at both parties. MRS. S. W. VANLANDINGHAM PARTY HOSTESS. On Friday evening Mrs. S. W. Van landingham very charmingly enter tained honoring her sister Mrs. Ceci Brasington of Paw Creek, N. C. Y+ an attractive yuletide setting four tables were arranged for contracx bridge. High score prizes were won by Mrr James Gandy and Mr. George Potter the honor guest also received a dainty gift. A delicious sweet course was serv ed following the games. Emily and William Shannon of Griffin, Ga. are spending the holidays at the home of their grand-father, Mr. C. J. Shannon, Jr. Sam McCaskill who is attending Duke University is with his parents. Miss Virginia Tolbert spent last week end in Columbia with Miss Ev elyn McEntire. MRS. THERIOT HONORS AT TRACTIVE VISITOR AT PARTY. Mrs. F. N. Theriot entertained members of her bridge club and some additional guests Wednesday after noon at her home on W. Bay Street, honoring Miss Ethel Birchmore, of Camden, S. C., the attractive house guest of Mrs. John N. McClure. Christmas colors predominated in the decorations in the living room and dining room, where three tables were grouped for play. Brilliant poinsettias and foliage, and Christ mas berries filled the baskets placed at intervals about the rooms, form ing a lovely setting for the party. Mrs. B. H. Pope was presented with a patchwork pillow as high score prize. The guest of honor received b box of hand-made handkerchiefs as a gift from the hostess. The cut prize, hand-made handkerchiefs, went to Mrs. B. P. Mount. Dainty refreshments, consisting of chicken salad, date bar with whipped cream and cherries, olives, hot bis cuit and coffee, were served to: Miss Birchmore, the guest of honor; Mrs B. F. The guests arriving at seven o'clock motored to the Palnietto theatre, later returning to the spac ious home of the hostess' mother. Mrs. Myrtle ThomaB, on Orange J street where refreshments were serv ed. Miss Birchmore's blonde lovelinesr was enhanced by an exquisite crea tion of gold and green chiffon with matching accessories. Her flower8 Vere ft' shoulder corsage of pink rad iance rose buds. Mrs. McClure chose black chiffor ?ind lace for her gown, worn with r shoulder corsage of red radiance rosr buds. The home was replete with Christ mas decorations and greenery. The mantel in the spacious living room was banked with holjy and on either end were silver candelabra holding burning tapers. Bowls of red rose? and Brazillian pepper plant were at intervals throughout the rooms. The dining table was covered with a lace cloth and centered by a silver basket of red roses flanked by can delabra holding red tapers. Bridgr tables covered with linens were cen tered with her rose buds, and places were marked with handpainted cards . Frozen fruit salad topped with whipped cream, in grapefruit baskets with red and green handles, were served with cheese crackers, hot choc olate and cakes iced with green and centered with a red cherry. lie hostess' gift to the honorer was a lovely piece of lingerie.
