CLUB HOSTESS ' ' Mrs. Dan Murchison entertained the bridge club of which ' she is a member Thursday afternoon at her apartment on Lyttleton street. Sub stitutes for the afternoon were Mrs. R. E. Stevenson and Mrs. John T. Mackey, Jr. After cards the hostest served delightful refreshments. MRS. C. H. ZEMP ENTERTAINS CLUB Mrs. C. H. Zemp was hostess to the Friday Afternoon Bridge Club thit week. Three tables were arranged 1 for Club Members and several extra guests. High score for the gueste was won by Mrs. Hughey Tindal, the club prjze was won by Mrs. Caro' DesChamps. MEETING OF NEIGHBORHOOD BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. R. E. Stevenson was hostest Wednesday to the Neighborhood Clul and the following extra guests: Misi Lai Blakeney, Mrs. Marvin Reason over, Mrs. Lee Little, Mrs. Henrj Niles, Miss Catherine Murchison, Mn F. D. Goodale, Mrs. Hubert Wilsor and Mrs. E. N. McDowell. High score was won by Mrs. F. D. Goodale, Mrs Withers Trotter received the low score prize and Mrs. J. L. Willifort cut the consolation. The hostesf served date pudding topped with whij cream, and coffee. MISS MOLLY ANDERSON ENTERTAINS. On Wednesday morning Miss Molly Anderson of Richmond, Va.f enter tained at a bridge luncheon at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. S Llewellyn. Miss Anderson's guestr were the members of the Wednes day Morning Bridge Club and the following guests: Mrs. W. H. Harris Mrs. P. M. Zemp, Mrs. H. G. Marvin and Mrs. F. H. Craighill. High score prizes were won by Mrs. D. O. Houser and Miss Leila Shannon. The consolation prize was cut by Mrs Frank Zemp. At noon the guests were invited into the dining room where from a lovely apopinted table a delightful luncK was served. Each guest broifght t piece of tin ware and when the honor guests came from the picture Ihow they were greeted by the invitpd guests who had assembled in the din ing room. Much fun and laughter was caused as the presents . were opened. During the evening dancing was enjoyed. Delicious punch, sand wiches and cake were served by the hostess. v Around thirty guests enjoyed thi deligthful occasion. SAN-SOUCI BRIDGE CLUB ENTERTAINED. On Friday evening at their home on Laurens Court, Mr. and Mrs. Leor Tobin very delightfully entertainer' the San-Souci bridge club of whicV they are members. Four tables werf placed for contract bridge. Guestr playing besides club members wen Mrs. George Jarvis of Charlotte, Mre M. McCann and George Potter. High score prizes were won by Mrs J. B. Queen and S. W. Vanlanding ham. Low score prizes went -to Mrs S. W. Vanlandingham and Desr Goodale. ? A delightful sweet course war served. Miss Ethel Birchmore left Sunday for Tampa, Fla. where she will spend several weeks with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Parker ant* son of New York were week end guests of Mrs. Eta I. Williams anc family at Park View Inn. Mr. Park er is pleansantly remembered here where he spent his boyhood days. Misses Olive and Virginia Lee Net ties spent the week end at home with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F Nettles. Dr. and Mrs. C. F. Wimberly had with thfem for the week end theii son, Paul Wimberly, of the Univer sity of South Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Cassels Zemp have taken an apartment with Mrs. Brat ton DeLoache. Miss Sophie Richards, who teacher at Baron DeKalb school was a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Richards, Jr. during the week-end. Miss Lenora Rhame of Columbic College was at home for the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Rhame. Mrs. J. S. Rhame is spending two weeks in Charlotte visiting her sis :ters, Mrs. E. V. Durham and Mrs. M. M. Murphy. Mrs. J. E. Schenk and Mr. Geo Jarvis and son spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Beaver. Mrs. Jarvis who has been with hei sister, Mrs. Beaver will remain for another week. Mrs. Beaver has been quite sick hut is improving daily at the Camden Hospital. TISDALE Royal Baking InstitMtt i HEREVER Christ ianity is the prevail ing religion, Christ mas day is observed. Everyone agrees that it is the finest of all holidays, especially for the children. Christmas dinner is a gala occasion. It is the high spot of the holiday get tofirether. House wives start planning for it days in advance. Take cranberry sauce, for instance -co Christmas dinner has ever been complete without it. Our grand mothers prepared it at least a week ahead. In those days cranberry sauce, thick with berries, was served in a side dish. Today it is strained, put into a mold and chilled. At serv ing time it comes to the table side by side with the roast, in cubes to adorn the edge of the dinner plate. It can be prepared days ahead, or practically at the last minute be cause the new quick-setting gelatin requires only an hour to become firm. Below are two modern versions of cranberry sauce and holiday fruit cake: HOLIDAY FRUIT CAKE (White) Can be baked three or four weeks ahead yi cup shortening 1 cup sugar 4 egg whites 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon cream of tartar baking powder Ya teaspoon salt ( Yi cup water 54 lb. (1 cup) candied citron Va lb. (}A cup) candied cherries Y\ lb (1 slice) candied pineapple % cup black walnut meats Cream shortening; add sugar gradually, mixing in well. Add un beaten egg whites one ai a time, beating well between each addition. Sift baking powder and salt with half the flour; add alternately with water to first mixture. Add remain ing flour to chopped fruit and nuts; add to cake mixture. Bake in loaf or tube pan lined with heavy oiled paper. Bake in slow oven at 250?F. ? 300? F. about 2^ hours. Makes 1 loaf. CRANBERRY ORANGE RELISH 1 package quick setting gelatin dessert (orange flavor) 1 cup boiling water orange < 3 tablespoons sugar 1 cup cold water cups uncooked cranberries Dissolve quick setting gelatra dessert in boiling water; add sugar and stir until dissolved ; add coki water. Put cranberries and unpeekd orange through food chopper ; add to gelatin mixture and chill until it begins to thicken. Stir up and pour into moid* Chill until firm. Serves 12. How One Woman ?
