CORPORAL TRUESDALE
INJURED IN NICARAGUA
Washington,' April 26 (AP) ? Cor
iporal D. L. Truesdule, marine corps,
who went through 9even engagements
with Nicaraguen insurgents and was
uninjured in them, was seriously in
jured Sunday by the accidental ex
plosion of a rifle grenade while he
was on patrol duty near the Hondur
an border.
Truesdale, whose home is at Lugoff,
S. C., is serving as a second lieu
tenant in the Nicaraguan National
Guard
Lieut. Col. Calvin"^- B. Matthews,
commanding the marine detachment
in Nicaragua in a report to the navy
department, described Truesdale's
condition as "serious".

TO REST AT M'BEE
MoBee, May 2. ? Funeral services
for J. M. MoDonald, 70, who died at
his home near hear Friday, were held
Saturday afternoon ait Union church
cemetery by the Rev. W. D. Hender
son. Mr. McDonald was a prominent
citizen- of the McBee community. He
is survived by his widow, the former
Miss Lydia King.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha
H. Ross, 65, who died Saturday at her
home at Blaney, were held yesterday
morning at Union Baptist ehurih at
Blaney with the Rev. A. V-. Smith of
Lugoff in charge. Interment was in
the churchyard. Mrs. Ross was the
wife of Simon Ross of Blaney.

at the home of Mrs. John Young. The
president called the meeting to order
with twenty-two members and two
visitors present. Gardening ahd ex
